VISITING PORT-AU-PRINCE
Ahar, tis good to find you with me still at one of my favourite ports. Here I furnishes me ship with anything I couldn't plunder on the high seas, and for fun there's always the spoken word.
Haiti occupies the western half of the island of
Hispaniola.
and Ayiti (
land of high mountains) was the indigenous
Taíno name the island which was a major gateway to the Caribbean. Many, many pirates held over here, French Buccaneers even settled the Western part of Haiti and grew tobacco. Finding everything a man might need to make a good living a lot of The Brethren of the Coast settled too, becoming farmers/traders. The city of Port-au-Prince lies on a bay which acts as a natural harbor. It has allowed sustained economic activity since the civilizations of the Arawaks.
